Charles Barkley is leaving broadcasting after the 2024-2025 NBA season.
The 61-year-old Barkley announced his decision during NBA TV’s NBA Finals coverage on Friday.
Barkley has been a part of Turner Broadcasting and Inside the NBA since 2000, with he, Ernie Johnson, and Kenny Smith joined by Peter Vecsey for its inaugural run.
In May, it was announced that next season will be Inside the NBA’s last. Earlier this month, it was reported that the NBA is nearly a television rights deal with NBC, ESPN, and Amazon set to be worth $76 million.
Ernie Johnson, who has hosted Inside the NBA since 1990, has said that he will not leave Turner Sports at the conclusion of next season, while Barkley had hinted in recent years at retirement.
It is unknown what role Smith and O’Neal will have in NBA coverage after next season.
